Former Employee - Solution Development Manager in Brisbane (Australia)

I worked at NEC Australia (more than 5 years)

    flexible work times
possible to innovate and challenge traditional revenue streams (but very hard work)
great pool of international talent to draw on - as long as it can be justified and you find a Japanese mgr to sponsor.
wide range of work - telco, enterprise, government, mining, defence

    multiple org charts
too much butt covering and adversity to balanced risk
clever people (and this is plenty) are not given incentive to show talent and lead
when it goes wrong a culture of find the scapegoat, ironically opposite to Keizen

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

need to communicate to market in oz what they want to be. Every 2 years the goals appeared to change, then lack the gumption to carry though on committed path.

    • Simple puzzle on a team working on two areas, one of double size compared to the other. Team is divided into two areas and work for half a day. For the second half of that day, team is merged to work in the big room. They finish the bigger area within that day. One team member needs to come back to complete the work in the other room the next day. It takes the whole day.

How many people in the team?
