I have been working at NYS Office Of Children & Family Services full-time for more than a yearPros
Staff- An amazing group of people to work with. With every job, especially in this field, knowing you have reliable coworkers whom assist each other and go the extra mile to make sure your all on the same page makes all the difference.Cons
So short staffed.
Sadly, this job field is HIGH STRESS....Being able to manage work, & maintain a personal life outside is hard. The state needs to go back to implementing the old way of rules and policies.
Its hard for staff to stay when, they don't feel safe.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Company values are important.
They are more then willing to listen and hear and see all sides to each story.RecommendsPositive Outlook

- Application Details
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at NYS Office Of Children & Family Services in October 2012.Interview Details
Initial Hiring went very quick, had to manage previous job and manage to set up required specifications needed to have on file (ie physical, finger prints)
Initial Interview went well, was a little nerve wrecking as Im sure it would be for anyone whom has never worked in the field prior to.
Employee interaction during interview process was good and very blunt and to the point. They are very through in their use of (scenario & what your response would be). It helps the interviewer (s) get a vibe as to if you would be a good candidate for the job.Interview Questions
Negotiation DetailsMy advice to anyone looking into becoming a part of the OCFS field.
