As a large company it offered a diverse array of roles and projects to be engaged with.

The nature of project work is that it does have a finite end date. This meant your job security in the role was low. National Grid used project roles as a way of being able to keep your base rate lower than the total amount they would pay if they had you on a substantiated role. You need to know your people, they are your best asset. Be loyal to them, you will receive much more loyalty in return.
