I have been working at National Guard full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Unique opportunities are usually available for training both in and outside of your career field. A great place to develop relationships.

    Cons

Full time jobs are often hard to come by and often depend on the relationships you've built. Also due to the citizen/soldier aspect, it is possible to have a ton of experience civilian side but take orders from someone with a fraction of your experience based on rank. But that can be mediated by people skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to mgmt (gov't/taxpayers) is to create more full time positions (both AGR and ADOS) within each state. There is a great need for full time support for the reserve component.

Okay, we can stop calling them weekend warriors now. Made up of citizen soldiers, the National Guard's mission is to guard the nation. During peacetime, state governors command their guards, calling them into action during local and statewide emergencies. The Guard has been called to clear streets after tornados, evacuate residents before hurricanes, rescue victims in the wake of floods, provide security at large events, quell riots, and restore order.
