I have been working at Nebraska Furniture Mart full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great culture! Honesty and integrity first on core values! Decent pay. Good opportunities. Safety is priority #1 in the warehouse!

    Cons

Not much. Leads could get paid a little better. Large footprint to work in and only 1 main entrance for employees. So, you could be walking very far between tasks and to parking lot. But all the walking can't be bad for you. Depends on your health.

    Application Details

I applied in-person – interviewed at Nebraska Furniture Mart in October 2014.

    Interview Details

To begin, I did an assessment that took about 30 minutes. The questions were somewhat tricky, thankfully I had done my research on the best sales techniques so I was able to use that information for the assessment. Hint: The best thing to do in Sales is ask questions. After the assessment I had an interview with 3 people. They were all very friendly and laid back.

    Interview Questions
    • Questions I was asked:
-What do you know about the company?
-Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult customer
      -Why should we hire you?
-What do you like about your current job?
-Why are you looking for a new job?
        Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
There was no negotiation in salary. It is full commission for sales. The other thing we were able to discuss was the hours. It is mandatory to work weekends, both Saturday and Sunday.

Girl power, indeed. The legendary Nebraska Furniture Mart got its start in 1937 when Russian immigrant Rose Blumkin ("Mrs. B") began selling furniture at a slight markup from a shop basement. Her motto: "Sell cheap and tell the truth!" The famed 450,000-sq.-ft. Omaha location (called the Mart) was built in 1968 and rebuilt by Mrs. B and her son in 1975 after a tornado hit. Two decades later, an electronics and appliance store was added in Omaha; the 77-acre location boasts some 500,000 sq. ft. of retail space. The firm also operates stores in Des Moines, Iowa, Kansas City... More
