    Pros

As a faculty member who has been at Niagara for a while, I find that faculty are very caring and highly invested in our student's success. Many highly prepared academics come to Niagara with the intent of using the experience as a stepping stone to another level of academe. Interestingly many of these people find a home and they choose to stay. Niagara has a certain allure that is hard to describe but it's both challenging and mission driven.

    Cons

My comment regarding the pros also has a dark side in that some people only see Niagara as a place to use as a springboard to another more prestigious institution. That sort of attitude does not serve our students or colleagues well.

    Advice to Management

Insure that the commitment to shared governance is not just so many words!

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Niagara University (Niagara Falls, NY) in February 2009.

    Interview

First interview with Human Roesources. They were very friendly. Second interview with Department Supervisor. Not extremely warm : very formal. Not a comfortable meeting. Most supervisors are also teachers and so are constantly evaluating you and your words. You will not be treated as an equal. Some vollying between human resources and actual department. Lack of parking for job candidates. (Very confusing). Pretty formal process with folders of information to take with you.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

There was zero negotiation. Very rigid pay schedule. Was offered as "pay is low but benefits are excellent."
