    I worked at Ning Inc full-time (More than a year)


    The best group of engineers I've ever had the opportunity to work with; everyone cared about their respective tasks and contributions to the overall product, often working as hard as necessary to get things done regardless of how unreasonable the deadlines were.


    Long hours, grueling redundant work that feels largely unnecessary, impartial to career growth opportunities internally.

    Advice to Management

    Delegate more to tenured employees, especially the ones that have shown dedication and area expertise, be more conscious of overworking, and provide constant feedback on career paths at the company.

    I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Ning Inc (Palo Alto, CA) in May 2011.


    Behavioral questions, Strategy Q about business. Focused on Acquisition, Engagement, Monetization, and Retention of users. Lots of q's about why I wanted to work on the Ning platform, build features for the Ning community. Also, q's about Agile, esp. from Eng Mgmt since they implemented 1 week sprint cycles

    Negotiated start date, salary. Not bad, a bit back and forth but all done very efficiently due great HR team. Even negotiated upcoming paternity leave time since we had a little one onf the way. Helped that NING at the time has no vac limit policy, so took a couple weeks around Dec holidays to spend time with our newest addition!
