These comments are at the heart of North Shore-LIJ’s sustainability and social responsibility mission. In November 2010, our CEO, Michael J. Dowling, shared these ideas in an article he wrote for employees shortly after North Shore-LIJ publicly partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish far-reaching, environmentally responsible programs and business practices at its facilities. Since signing the EPA agreement, North Shore-LIJ’s sustainability and social responsibility agenda is now part of the health system’s day-today operations. We actively avoid contributing to the environmental hazards that cause health problems in our communities and work to increase health, economic and social equality to help people live healthy lives. We have also created strategic partnerships locally in an effort to increase our impact and further advance sustainability practices across our region.

    I have been working at North Shore LIJ Health System

    Pros

    The working atmosphere is perfect and a great place to learn and get hands on training. I definitely recommend this place

    Cons

    There aren't any cons other than work hours I suppose but even then, you wouldn't mind because it doesnt seem like a bore

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up that is all. They know what they are doing here so I don't have much to say. I know there won't be any problems.

    I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at North Shore LIJ Health System (New Hyde Park, NY) in June 2015.

    Interview

    The Nurse Manager and one of the Charge Nurses conducted a professional and friendly interview. I was extremely impressed with the hospital, the unit, the friendliness of the staff and the interviewers. There were quite a number of RNs being interviewed for the same position. The interview was only 10 to15 minutes in length.
