I worked at Old Time Pottery full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Always somthing new to stock and sell to customers. Managers help with all work expected of regular employees.

    Cons

Company is set in it's ways even if their ways do'nt push the company ahead. Very little room for advancement because it is still a small company with not a lot of stores.

    Application Details

I applied in-person – interviewed at Old Time Pottery.

    Interview Details

Interview was nothing special very much like any other interview with alot of the same questions. Interviewer asked questions on past employment to see if I was familiar with working retail.

    Negotiation Details
There was not a negotiation phase. I was informed that they pay more than min. wage because they expected more than min. wage work but I later found out that they may start you out over min. wage because the raise percentage is very low and it comes yearly.

You won't find any dusty crocks or cracked pots at Old Time Pottery. You will find a chain of about 30 stores in 10 states in the South and Midwest selling discounted, closeout, and overstock housewares, silk flowers, framed art, linens, rugs, craft supplies, seasonal merchandise, and more. The company gets its inventory, which it displays in a warehouse-type setting, from the canceled orders and excess stock of manufacturers. And it needs lots of inventory, as stores average about 2 acres in size. Founded in 1986, Old Time Pottery is controlled by the Peterson family. The... More
