Your responsibilities will expand as quickly as you demonstrate your capabilities.

Alumni network connections
Your Oliver Wyman experience will extend far beyond our offices. An impressive group of alumni offers opportunities for networking, support, and career options across industries and around the world. Our alumni are executives and leaders at companies such as GE, Citigroup, Google, HSBC, American Express, MTV Europe, ING, Tesco and Guinness, to name just a few. Others have taken their Oliver Wyman experience and talents into private equity, venture capital, and not-for-profit enterprises, and indeed, many have started their own successful businesses. We are very proud of the achievements of our alumni. With such a vast range and diversity of careers from one starting point, Oliver Wyman is more than a consulting organization … we’re a community.
At Oliver Wyman, people define our firm. While our work is high impact and high stakes, the atmosphere at Oliver Wyman is noticeably friendly and collegial. We focus on output, not input, and fundamentally reject the culture of “long hours for long hours’ sake". Ours is a community that values a healthy exchange of ideas, teamwork and mutual respect. We see no conflict whatsoever between doing great work and having fun. Also, we encourage our staff to pursue interests out of work, as it makes them better consultants and more interesting colleagues.
Your experience with Oliver Wyman will prepare you for almost any opportunity that comes your way—both at the firm and beyond. The business skills, leadership talents and client exposure you’ll gain here are second to none. Our goal is to provide innovative opportunities for our employees so they can continue to learn and grow during every step of their careers.

What impact will you make at Oliver Wyman? What impact will a career here have on you?
Oliver Wyman is committed to nurturing and developing staff early in their careers. In both of our primary career tracks, many of our staff who joined us from University were promoted through the ranks to become Partners. We are unique in that we do not require an advanced degree for promotion into the Partnership. We think that you can learn just as much, if not more, on the job as you might in the classroom. We avoid the constraints that, in many firms, limit the pace at which an able individual can assume responsibility.
We allow our consultants as much responsibility as they can handle and provide ongoing training to accelerate their development. We emphasize a 6-9 year Partner path, not a two-year analyst program.
We recognize that by supporting the professional and personal goals and interests of our people, the entire organization benefits. Your life is not all about your work at Oliver Wyman. We offer innovative alternatives for work and life beyond the firm which include sabbaticals, externships, non-profit fellowships or part-time programs.
With over 40 offices worldwide, we have global opportunities available and look to staff the best people on the assignments, no matter where the client is located. Whether you’re working domestically or abroad, your exposure to different markets and cultures will be constant and in-depth. From Beijing to London, from New York to Paris, from Toronto to Dubai, Oliver Wyman provides invaluable exposure and access to an exciting and challenging business world. And because our work relies on a thorough knowledge of the markets where our clients operate, we believe that the best way to gain that understanding is to see and experience it for ourselves.

Within a year or two, you've really moved beyond analytics and into client and case management. You lead people and cases early.Cons
Can be a bit bureaucratic. Often things you are looking to do are met by routine 'company policy' answers - would be nice if there was more flexibility.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Keep focused on development. Make sure to make discussing career development a top priority even several years into the job.
