I worked at Optoma Technology full-time for more than 3 yearsPros
-Good learning opportunity about sales and how a production company works if you are a recent grad.
-1/3 of the employees are very nice, smart, fun, supportive, and competent.
-full benefits (medical, vision, dental, 401k) on start date,Cons
-extremely low pay. They want to work you as hard as they could for low pay.
-no room to grow at all. They frown upon internal transfers.
-majority of the staff are highly incompetent and lazy. They have been there for over 5+ years and still don't know what the heck they are doing.
-management takes credit for your work and blame you for all the mistakes (like most companies).
-low employee morale. Company seems to only care about numbers and not about how unhappy and overworked their employees are.
-consistently understaff. "Budget cuts" prevent them from hiring more or good people.
-staff award/appreciation only goes to management and upper management. If you are a support staff (engineers, tech support, admin, analyst, etc) you will never be rewarded for your hard work. The $1000 will always be rewarded to upper management.Advice to ManagementAdvice
-Re-evaluate the staff and let go of the incompetent people whom you had held on for so long and appreciate the staff who works so hard for you everyday.
-Provide more competitive salary.
-allow professional growth, internal transfer, and promotion.
-show company/employee morale. Show a little appreciation even if the company budget is low. Bring back the holiday parties and staff appreciation.
-give awards away to actual support staff and not managers.Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEO
