I worked at Pacific Coast Church full-time (More than 5 years)
Great city culture and weather. Congregation loves the LORD and is the most supportive I've ever experienced. Support staff is also loving and self-less.
Elder board is not in touch with the staff/congregation and relies on information from Senior Pastor to make decisions. If someone doesn't fit in on the Elder Board, they step down instead of challenging the status quo. This same behavior led to a church split in 2005. The church struggles to make their budget year after year. There is no accountability for missing the budget.
Advice to Management
Look to add diversity to the Elder Board and figure out a way to get the Elder Board involved with at least the staff, if not the congregation as well. There are many silos that are allowed to operate freely, which would benefit from some coaching and understanding.
