I worked at Pacific Lutheran University part-time (more than 3 years)

Very student oriented. If I needed time off I could get it. If I wanted more hours I could get those as well. I was able to manage myself and get a lot accomplished because of this. I made my own hours and was able to pretty much do as I pleased. This allowed me a ton of growth.

You can get away with too much. Many student employees would come in late or not at all and they would not be reprimanded. Also employees would say they worked so many hours a week while they worked substantially less. Management never came out to see how awesome I was doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make student employees accountable. Spy on them. Make sure they are working when they say they are working.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Pacific Lutheran University.

    Interview Details

I was hired for a Visiting Assistant Professor position after interviewing with eight other applicants. After submitting my application and references, I was asked to do a Skype interview with the department faculty. Following this, I was asked to come out for a two day in-person interview during which I met with additional PLU faculty and administration. I was notified at the end of the second day that they wanted to informally offer me the position. A formal offer arrived later the next week.

    Interview Questions
    • They asked me my opinion on several highly-debated questions specific to my field that were difficult for me to answer in-the-moment.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
I negotiated on an extra stipend for moving costs, but my request for a (small) increase in my base pay was denied.
