Not for the first time, capitalism is under attack. The economic system that won the great ideological battle of the 20th century is facing a renewed challenge in the 21st. You can hear it in the passionate rhetoric of Pope Francis in Bolivia and see it in the crowds cheering socialist Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire.

I have been working at Philips Lighting (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities for career advancement. Average compensation package. Training opportunities were readily available. Diverse international company provided exposure to different countries and technologies.

    Cons

Job security was always in question with the frequent plant closings. There are very few plants left in the United States for job opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Provide better job security. Make it easier for current employees to get jobs in other sectors of Philips asuch as medical and personal care.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Philips Lighting (San Marcos, TX) in August 2015.

    Interview

I put in a online application and about a week later, I was contacted by HR. He asked me a few questions about my resume then told me that he would send the information to the manager for consideration. 2 weeks later, they invited me in for a in-person panel interview with 4 interviewers on a Friday. Interview only lasted about 45 minutes. They were a pretty tough crowd to please. I can tell from their facial expressions that they weren't very interested. On Monday morning, I sent them all follow up emails thanking them for taking the time to interview with me. None of them replied. I waited 2 weeks later and still no reply.
