Philips Lighting – Why Work For Us?

To some light is taken for granted. To others light is the one thing that makes life possible. The thing about light is that it touches and affects people in different ways, and the same is true with a workplace. At Philips Lighting, we do our best to ensure that the experience you have as a Philips employees is a supportive one, built on trust, and passion for the industry we serve.

Take Catherine Rose's story as an example. She saw an opportunity for her daughter, Alexis, to have a better quality of life with light. And through her passion, action and support from Philips resources, has recently launched a new innovation in the market, LightAide, which helps children with visual impairments learn and experience the world in new ways.

Some lighting companies deliver components. Some deliver solutions. Philips delivers end to end lighting innovation. What does this mean for you as a lighting professional?

It means that you can pursue a career path that, over time, touches all aspects of the end to end lighting value chain- from automotive lighting to consumer lighting solutions; from simplistic components to complex control systems; from our U.S. headquarters in Somerset, NJ to our Lumileds facility in San Jose, CA. Here the job roles are as diverse as the role that light plays in the world, and we believe that will inevitably lead to a brighter future for us all.

As the lighting industry continues to evolve, so to do the opportunities and challenges for those in the field. Tim Farrell, Design Engineer for Philips Lighting, knows exactly what that's like. Read about one of his latest challenges here.

When you look at a lightbulb today, you probably don't see your future in the center of it. But if you think of how you can redefine global communities by making landmarks more iconic, making cities more livable and making homes more comfortable with light, you may start to. Just like the thousands of employees in over 100 countries around the world who are proud to work for Philips Lighting, you'll start to experience light in a different way. You'll see it as a means to improve lives, and brighten your career all at the same time.

At Philips, we're not interested in adapting technology for technology's sake. We're interested in changing the world through innovation. The teams at Philips Lighting couldn't be more committed to the cause and proud of the various industry recognition they've already received for leading the charge- such as winning the recent Leader of Change and L-Prize Competition awards.

What's most important to our people though is enhancing the REAL moments in life that light can influence... like creating an awe-inspiring experience for children at bed time story hour which our partner product line with Disney helps to create. Or making the walk home from a 2nd shift safer for a rural working mom. We're here to serve customers and communities by enhancing life through innovations in light, and that's a journey we would like to invite the best of the best to consider joining us on!

We have been recognized for our ground-breaking lighting innovations through numerous awards, but nothing is more rewarding than being there for a family during storytime. With Philips goal of "Enhancing Life with Light", nowhere is this more apparent than our recent partnership with Disney, creating a line of innovative products designed to bring Disney magic to life through lighting like never before.  Children and their parents can connect e-books to lighting products that change the vibe in a room as a story unfolds. The revolutionary concept makes reading more fun by allowing families to become immersed in the story, and kids to see the story come to life before their very eyes.
