I have been working at Philips Oral full-time (more than an year)

Great opportunity to learn about the development of Medical Devices in a fast growing company [Philips Oral Healthcare], that is both separate from as well as part of, a much larger company [Philips Electronics] in compliance with Quality System Regulations. Pockets of truly inspired and very intelligent people can be found in most of the departments and functions that make up the company.

Being part of a larger company sometimes results in Philips Corporate forcing processes that do not add value and ways of working that dilute rather than increase focus and efficiency. A significant portion of the employees has become expected to put in long hours, in some cases resulting in unsatisfactory work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to work-life balance of employees; continuing on the current path will not be sustainable in the long run for some of the most valuable employees. Make more courageous decisions with respect to the development roadmap; kill projects that are hogging resources yet adding little to top line / bottom line when reviewed at a realistic business case.

Since the turnover has been so high, unfortunately they don't have smart people who know how to conduct interviews anymore.

    Interview Questions
    • I was shocked that they asked an inappropriate question. Something not legal to be asked in the US   View Answer
