I have been working at Piercing Pagoda full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I think that Piercing Pagoda is a great place to work when trying to gain experience in retail.

Work-life balance was a bit off, as it is in most retail positions. All managers are required to work weekends, as it is the busiest time of the week. If your spouse works a business week schedule, this limits the time you will have with them. That being said, compared to other retail positions, they are much more accommodating.

The company always tries to promote from inside. I started as a seasonal hire, was promoted to part-time keyholder and then promoted to assistant manager within a year. If you work hard and are dedicated, this is a great opportunity.

    Cons

The only cons i can think of would be the turnover rate of keyholders. It is par for the course in retail, especially in a college town, but it was still awful having to train new people all the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I enjoyed my manager and my district manager. They were always open and willing to talk.

I didn't get an interview. But basically you fill out an application,do the questionnaire. Then you would have an interview with the store manager, followed by an interview with the district manager. Once you get approved it takes about 2 weeks to start. This is based on seeing many people who go through the process.
