Current Employee - Part-time Teller in Lubbock, TX

I have been working at PlainsCapital part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The work environment is awesome. Everyone seems laid-back but still professional. It's a nice balance. For a part time job I couldn't ask for better pay. The management seems competent and respectable. My favorite part is the extensive training. I'm just a part-time teller and I feel like they've already invested a lot in me.

    Cons

We'll have to wait and see.

    Application Details

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at PlainsCapital in January 2014.

    Interview Details

I was contacted for an interview within two weeks of my application. The branch manager and head teller met with me for the interview. They were both easy to get along with, and they did not seem overbearing or intimidating. The questions focused on what I wanted to end up doing in the future and whether or not I had roots in the area.

I was contacted by HR a few days after my interview over the phone. They told me that they would like to offer me the position starting at 10.00/hour. After I agreed they took a week to do a background check, and then I was called in for orientation and training.

PlainsCapital isn't just a plain old bank. PlainsCapital Corporation is the holding company for PlainsCapital Bank, which has some 35 branches in and around the Texas cities of Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock, and San Antonio, as well as an offshore branch in the Cayman Islands. Most locations (except those in its hometown of Lubbock) eschew marketing to the masses, instead focusing on serving middle-market companies and high-net worth individuals as a way to differentiate itself from competitors.
