Great co-workers--some really good engineers, technicians and operators who are really good at what they do. Incredible benefits (some of the best healthcare ever, and if the company does well, the ESOP should do well.) Good cafeteria, nice occassional "perks". They've brought in some really smart people in the past year or so, especially those with experiences in other manufacturers who can think of the bigger picture (such as our new-ish CEO/President.)

The cruddy home-grown computer systems that aren't connected--honestly, you'd think it was a company of 50 people or less and not a global company of over 1,000 like it is. (They need to invest in connected, thought out systems that are clearly connected and well thought out with clear training.) Right now, it's like the IS team chooses the cheapest option (or one they made or customized themselves) and then launches it without thinking of those of us who have to use it (engineers in the plant, for instance, have to use 10 or more systems!)

    Advice to Management

Look at what world-class global manufacturers do, and follow that (not home-grown P&C ways of doing things.) Develop global, integrated, real-time systems (and don't trust the "metrics" that people are pulling that are lagging....get to real-time data!)

Neither a moving target nor a sitting duck, Pridgeon & Clay (P&C) rivals the metal forming industry. An independent manufacturer and supplier of stamped and fine blanked components, the company designs and produces an array of parts for auto assembly plants across the US. Its made-in-the-US (China and Hungary, too) lineup includes steering column lock nuts, brackets for headlights to engines, control arms, flanges, exhaust parts, and muffler shields. Stamping equipment runs from fine blanking presses to high tonnage and progressive presses. P&C touts hand assembly, spot... More
