I have been working at Promega full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Amazing company culture, you are valued as a person and are not just treated as a number, you are given the tools you need to be successful, dynamic career growth is available, as a private company we are not a slave to share-holders, people feel good about the work they do, employees are happy which makes it an enjoyable place to be every day, wonderful work life balance,

    Cons

You need to be able to roll with the punches here or you will be frustrated- things change quickly in this industry and that can be difficult at first

    Senior Software Developer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Fitchburg, WI
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 4 months - interviewed at Promega in May 2010.

    Interview Details

At the recommendation of a current employee who was a friend, I submitted a resume online. The interviews consisted of a phone screening with HR, a second screening with the non-technical hiring manager, and then in-person interviews with a hiring committee. The committee consisted of the team I would join, the hiring manager, and some other managers that would work closely with the position.

This whole process took several months as there was a long time between each step. The in-person interviews were all in one day, but all together they took about 4 hours.

    Interview Questions
    • They did not seem to have any "tough" questions and did not insist on performing brain teasers or on-the-fly code examples.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
The salary was not negotiable in my case, but I was able to negotiate for more vacation time instead.
