“One thing that distinguishes Promontory from other firms is its positive work culture. When deadlines are approaching, people are always there to lend a hand, and their assistance often improves the quality of the final product. The collaborative nature of our work fosters a sense of camaraderie, and you go home feeling like you are part of something bigger than yourself.”

“I get to work directly with managing directors who have unparalleled experience in their fields. Most of my peers who work in consulting or financial services have much less contact with senior staff. Promontory has also helped me develop the interpersonal skills necessary for a client-facing role. The professional progress I’ve made here has helped me develop not only key analytical skills but also broader talents that will be relevant in future roles.”
Kyra Ferber, Analyst / B.A. in English Literature / Williams, ’10
“There is no typical assignment at Promontory. One day, you could be trying to detect fraud in Paris, and another day, interviewing executives in Toronto or Cleveland. Between flights to Miami or Salt Lake City, you could be doing research for white papers at a federal library, building a database of economic indicators, or bringing our Japanese clients up to speed on the latest regulatory and political developments.
Laura Toh, Associate / B.A. in Economics / Georgetown, ’07
“The opportunity to work directly with managing directors on engagements is one of many reasons I’m here — our top managers are accessible and invested in mentoring. The global nature and diversity of our engagements makes Promontory an exciting place to work. Our clients range from bulge-bracket investment banks to government agencies in emerging markets. Work has taken me from New York to Kenya to Singapore, with many stops in between.”
Kevin Rubottom, Associate / B.A. in Political Science / Boston College, ’07
“During my first few months on the job, I was whisked off to Australia to assist our CEO with meetings and presentations to a dozen of the country’s top banking CEOs. Hearing Gene Ludwig warn of the impending fi nancial crisis, I could see that Promontory was going to be a fascinating place to work for years to come. Much of our work has centered on the fi nancial crisis, and our clients include companies people read about in the newspapers every day.”
Molly Moore, Principal / M.B.A. / Harvard, ’07
“I enjoy the people I work with at Promontory the most. Engagement teams are very small, which means that junior employees are quickly given a great deal of responsibility. The teams are staffed mainly with people who have been in the industry for decades. These managing directors have seen it all before and enjoy sharing their experience and insight with us. You get to know your colleagues well because of all the travel involved in the work.”
Jack O’Connor, Associate / A.B. in History / Princeton ’07

I worked at Promontory Financial Group as an intern (less than an year)Pros
Great coworkers, good pay, and lots of opportunities for interns to do client work.Cons
Hours can be long, and managers are sometimes quite disorganized. The work seems pretty redundant; all projects I was exposed to were very similar.RecommendsNeutral OutlookApproves of CEO
