I worked at Prospect 33 full-time (More than 3 years)RecommendsPositive OutlookRecommendsPositive Outlook
I was employed by Prospect 33 for a little over two years and only recently converted to a full time employee with the bank I had been engaged with for the duration of the assignment. My experience with Prospect 33 was excellent. Their handling of matters was entirely professional, and I can only give positive feedback about this employer. I attended numerous events that they hosted and was very impressed with the caliber of their workforce and the other people I engaged with at the functions.
I hope that I can one day work with Prospect 33 again. I am very happy with my current role and I have Prospect 33 to thank for making this happen. Their model of allowing their consultants to convert to full time employment with their customers is unique and refreshing. Although I have listed this under Cons, it really is a Pro.
Advice to Management
A good honest business model which is well positioned in the current market to provide both value and quality.
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- No OfferNegative ExperienceDifficult Interview
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Prospect 33 (New York, NY) in November 2014.
It's a very poor practice that a few recruiters adopted to ask to contact candidate's references before this candidate even had their interview with the company. This is extremely inconsiderate to the candidate who is going to have their references bothered without being anywhere near the offer stage. I politely explained, that I don't have a problem with giving my references but only after mutual interest is established. I also have a long list of recommendations on my linkedin profile if they are in any doubt that I'm a legitimate candidate. They insisted and said, well, we heard back from the client that they want to interview, so there's an interest and this is "company's rule". Really? Ok. You got me, thatnks to the poor economy I really needed a job, so unfortunately I gave in and gave them 1 reference of a former colleague whom they contacted right away and who, I knew, provided a perfect reference, but even that was not enough, they asked for another one a day later, so they took my former boss's time as well and called her.
When I did go to a client for an interview, it turned out it was not exactly what I was looking for and the client rejected me a couple of days later without explaining. The recruiter's feedback was "they just like the other candidate better". Now, Prospect 33 got another candidate hired, so they made money on a deal, while I am in a tricky situation now if I need to ask my references to provide feedback again when there's a serious interest. How often can I bother these serious professional people who kindly agreed to provide a reference? Maybe Prospect 33 has an answer. Maybe once or twice is OK, only I am near the offer stage, but never again will I give any recruiter my professional references before even seeing the client, so they can look good in front of a client at my expense. I wish this practice was illegal.
After the client rejected me, my recruiter called me and said that since I signed a non disclosure agreement, they can now share which other clients they work with and consider me for other roles if they become available. Those "clients" turned out to be the same, big, well known companies that lots of other recruiters work with, so they were not in any way exclusive to Prospect 33 and I was introduced to those clients before, so I don't see what the big reveal was about. Despite saying all that about introducing me to other opportunities, Prospect 33 never contacted me again. Please don't apply with these people or endorse this practice of contacting references before you see a client. This is not OK, this is unprofessional, unethical and wrong.
