I worked at Questus as a contractor

    Pros

Yes, there are human beings left in advertising. They work at Questus, where everybody really truly knows your name. It's small - very small - but I've worked at very small shops where management breezes by without eye contact. Expect hand shakes and real hellos (and decent drinks and snacks at regular weekly beer bashes). You get the sense that people care, and that's not just a line. Sure you have to work hard, sometimes work late, but it's not the dictatorship of "If you can't come in Sunday, don't bother to come in Monday" which prevails at plenty of shops.

    Cons

Not always the most effective production processes or smartest strategies here. . Good starter gig and jumping off point for future work. Maybe too small to offer enough challenges to keep people interested and retain them long term. But they're trying and get an A for effort.

    Advice to Management

Keep it real, and up the ante.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at Questus.

    Interview

I went through a 3-step interview process. The first interview was a phone interview with the head of client services out in Cali. That went well and I moved on to a few in-person interviews with a group account lead, producer, and head of strategy in the NY office. Again, all interviews went well. The last step was to present a creative brief to both NY and Cali offices. I was told to pretend I was presenting to my creative team, which I did, and in my current role, the "presentation" would be pretty casual. Not knowing what was expected, I wasn't sure how the last interview went, until I was notified that they went with another candidate.
