RGP – Why Work For Us?

About Us

We serve business from the inside. Partnering with client teams, we solve problems, implement initiatives and help drive change through all levels of businesses all over the world. Traditional consulting firms hire right out of school. We employ seasoned professionals so they can start adding value as soon as they begin an engagement. Our professionals are experienced problem solvers who average 20-years experience in fields including finance and accounting, human capital, information management, internal audit, legal and supply chain. From more than 80 offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, RGP serves 2,100 clients in 66 countries. We're a pioneering professional services firm, a global community with a new approach to business — inside out.

Our Founding Story

RGP was founded in 1996 as a division of Deloitte & Touche LLP. In April of 1999, CEO Don Murray led a management buyout, and we went public in December of 2000. While our leaders are proud of our Big Four heritage, they had long envisioned a new kind of professional services firm. Traditional consulting takes an “outside in” approach to helping business — evaluating best practices, making recommendations and leaving implementation to clients. RGPpioneered an "inside out" approach, where consultants could work in partnership with leaders and their teams to transfer knowledge, build operational capability and drive change through all levels of the enterprise. Business leaders have been receptive to this way of working — we now have more than 2,800 professionals on four continents helping our clients succeed

We’re a multinational, multicultural global community of professionals that serves an extremely diverse, worldwide clientele. We hire senior people from the countries where our clients operate, so we’re fluent in the local languages, cultures and regulations. Guided by an entrepreneurial culture that rewards innovation and teamwork, we foster the free flow of ideas. We value talent, integrity, enthusiasm and loyalty — qualities we consider essential to the success of our business model. We put our clients' success first because our own success depends on it.

Because supply chain effectiveness is key to profitability, SCM leaders’ roles have been elevated within business as companies look to them to drive cost containment and operational effectiveness across the entire enterprise. RGP’s SCM professionals provide our clients with expertise in high-level diagnostics which enables them to help in the planning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex supply chain systems, while working as part of the client team to reduce total cost of ownership and improve business performance. Our professionals support business in all areas of SCM including:

Good rate. Get paid for overtime.

No chance for advancement. You are never sure of what comes next. Self promotion is key. Lots of the other consultants are only in it for short term. No sense of belonging to a bigger community.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to make employees part of a team. Have some kind of a program for bridging time when you aren't on an engagement.

    Difficult Interview

I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at RGP.

Basically you are hired on a project by project basis and paid on a W-2, with time and a half if you earn it, which is rare. You interview with the Client Services Director and the client on a project by project basis; therefore, based on the selectivity of the director and the client, you may not be allowed to work the project even though you are ready and available to work. You need to understand that this company should really be viewed as temporary / contract work. They are local office based and their hourly rates are not as much as the Big 4, consequently, they will not fly you into another city to work for another office just to insure you stay chargeable ( and be able to pay your bills) . Their business model will not support putting you into a hotel room and paying for your flight. In fact if you live away from their local offices they will not pay for you to fly you in to interview.

    Interview Questions

    • It took quite some time to really pin them down on the gist of how their set up works. So at the end of the day I think we all need to know that if you are like most of us and you have bills that have to be paid on a monthly basis, and your mortgage company and your utility companies will not agree to be paid only when you work projects, then you can't really work here, unless you are retired and already have an income coming in. I guess when you see them posting jobs in the market place it seems like they are real jobs and then you find out they are temporary jobs.   1 Answer
