    I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Rainbow Media in December 2014.

    Interview Details

    I received a call from the Director of Talent Acquisition who ran down my resume with me before passing it on - or in the trash. He asked me what my salary expectations were and we settled at a midpoint.

    The recruiter followed up with me a couple of weeks later and setup an onsite interview. I traveled over 150 miles and met with the recruiter and Manager of Employee Relations on Friday afternoon. I thought the interview went well. There wasn't really much to that phase outside of sharing further insight about the organization.

    I then met with the hiring manager for a one-on-one. The interview went well enough that he offered me the position on the spot or as he put it, "I recognize talent when I see it," and we made a "gentleman's agreement."

    On Monday, I sent out thank you letters to each person I met with and re-confirmed that I accepted the "gentleman's agreement" with my future boss, the hiring manager. I also realized that the hiring manager was out of the office for the day by his out of office email reply.

      Late Tuesday morning, I received a call from the Director of Talent Acquisition informing me that he felt I didn’t have enough technical ability or culture to support the hiring manager (who knew talent when he saw it and made a verbal offer).
    The only positive outcome is that I realized the dysfunction of the organization prior to uprooting my family. No harm, no foul, just a complete waste of my time and energy. Run if you can. Their word means nothing.
