Established in 1961, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited (RLL) is proud to celebrate 50+ years of excellence in the healthcare industry. Over the years, Ranbaxy has grown to a multi-national organization with operations in more than 124 countries, across six continents, with over 14,000 employees spread around the globe, representing 51 different nationalities.

RLL entered the U.S. generic pharmaceutical market in 1995, introducing its first FDA approved product under the Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. (RPI) label in January 1998. RPI opened its U.S. office in Raleigh, N.C., in January 1995 and acquired the manufacturing capabilities of Ohm Laboratories (Ohm) the same year. Subsequently, the company relocated to New Jersey in 1998. Today, Ranbaxy has U.S. operations in both New Jersey and Florida, while commercializing and distributing generic pharmaceutical products in all 50 states where at least one Ranbaxy product can be found on the shelves of the 55,000 pharmacies located in the U.S.

Ranbaxy is involved in all aspects of product development, from producing the active ingredient to formulating the dosage form, creating and filing an ANDA, manufacturing the finished dosage form, and ultimately marketing and distributing products to pharmacies throughout the U.S.

Ohm Laboratories, Inc. (Ohm), acquired by Ranbaxy in 1995, manufactures prescription and Over-the-Counter (OTC) drugs in solid dose forms (capsules and tablets) and is U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) approved to manufacture controlled substances. Our state-of-the-art laboratory, manufacturing and warehousing facilities are capable of handling high-volume products and large batch sizes, while our supply chain efficiency ensures seamless transportation to customer locations. We are a frontrunner in bringing unique product deliveries and complex combinations to the market. We use cutting-edge technology to meet all our customer needs and offer full-service, customized marketing and promotional programs designed to meet the growing needs of retailers, wholesalers and consumers.
At Ohm, we are committed to meeting or exceeding U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards for facilities, products, quality systems and procedures. Our facilities are routinely inspected and approved by the FDA, the DEA and the European Union. We employ the strictest standards in administering thorough testing and inspection at each stage of the manufacturing process. To continually monitor the quality of our products, each of them is subjected to impurity profiling exceeding industry standards.

Ranbaxy launches acne drug Absorica in US

Ranbaxy Laboratories Inc, the US-based wholly owned subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, has launched of Absorica (isotretinoin) 25 mg and 35 mg capsules in the US. Absorica, a product licensed by Ranbaxy from Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc, has become the most prescribed branded oral isotretinoin in the US, as per a recent independent survey conducted with dermatologists. It is indicated for the treatment of severe recalcitrant nodular acne in patients 12 years of age and older.

Due to its high lipophilicity, oral absorption of isotretinoin is enhanced when given with a high-fat meal, however, Absorica, which is formulated using patented Lidose technology, can be given without regards to meals. The fasted AUC0-t of Absorica is approximately 83 percent greater than that of Accutane, while both products are bioequivalent under fed conditions. Absorica is therefore not interchangeable and not substitutable with generic products of Accutane.

Dr Ashish Anvekar, Vice President of Brand Division North America, Ranbaxy, said “Since isotretinoin dosing is weight-based, we are most pleased to make available these valuable, additional dosing options exclusively for Absorica. This will give prescribers the enhanced flexibility, to tailor the isotretinoin therapy depending on the patient’s weight, and benefit the group of patients who are in that weight range, irrespective of their dietary intake. Ranbaxy continuously seeks to innovate and bring value based options to the specialty of dermatology and patients.”

    Pros

    Offices have a community-like environment. Everyone is very willing to help and answer questions. There are plenty of opportunities to socialize, such as an employee softball team. Additionally, employees are encouraged to have a good work/life balance with early dismissals on Fridays during the summer.

    Cons

    The traffic outside of the Princeton Forrestal Village becomes nightmarish around 4:30 pm and makes for a very difficult commute either northbound or southbound on route 1. Other than that I enjoyed my time there very much.
