Each morning, our drivers start their day with a safety briefing. Republic Services’ drivers begin their employment with week-long equipment training that is focused on skill set verification at one of 22 driver training safety centers nationwide. This initial training is followed by weeks of in-cab instruction and evaluation. Throughout their tenure, Republic Services’ drivers participate in Focus 6®, a monthly supervisor-led training protocol focused on eliminating the six types of industry-specific accidents that occur most frequently. #SummerSafety #Community #MyBlueTruck

Republic exercises the utmost responsibility in our operations. This includes our fleet, our buildings, our landfill technology and the day-to-day activities we conduct in your community. With approximately 16,000 trucks on the road, Republic operates the 8th largest vocational fleetin the country. Every day, our drivers and their trucks form Republic’s front line to meet the recycling and waste needs of our residential and commercial customers. Approximately 2,200 of our vehicles are powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) at our 38 natural gas fueling stations nationwide. We believe using CNG vehicles provides us a competitive advantage while reducing the amount of fuel required for our operations, improving air emissions, and significantly reducing vehicle noise profiles.

I applied online – interviewed at Republic Services (Jacksonville, FL) in June 2015.
After submitting a resume perfectly suited to the job and showing years of experience in the exact same job functions, a phone call with their in-house recruiter Jessica left a bad taste in my mouth. She was snotty, seemed to take an instant dislike to me, and the feeling was mutual. It's unfortunate that my info will (I'm sure) never be passed on to the local office due to the conversation I had with Jessica, who is in another state.
- After seeming instantly put off by the way I said "Hi," (not even joking), there was a stiff pause and then Jessica said, "So tell me something about you." I'm sorry, but that's too broad a question and not a good way to lead into an interview. Telling her about my personal stats in not appropriate, and she's got my work history in front of her.
