    Pros

    Rho leadership really cares about and invests in their employees. They have a flat organizational structure which allows for a lot of cross-functional communication and collaboration. They offer competitive salaries and provide nice bonuses. They encourage their employees to explore avenues of work that may veer away from their original position.

    Cons

    They can emphasize innovation over solidifying/perfecting prior projects and processes, which makes for a challenging day-to-day work experience.

    Advice to Management

    It would help to have lead people in each functional area able to have less study-specific work so they can spend quality time on developing, implementing, and maintaining functional area guidelines and training references.

    The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Rho (Chapel Hill, NC) in June 2010.

    Interview

    The interview process was thorough, starting with a phone screen with HR, continuing with in-person interviews and phone calls with potential managers, and concluding with a behavioral interview with a senior executive. Particular emphasis was placed on areas of expertise, problem solving, and techniques for handling stress and conflict. Total time spent was less than 8 hours, but the process spanned multiple days because of difficulties with scheduling.

    Negotiation

    Salary was negotiable but little else--leave time, signing bonus, retirement vesting were all off the table, or so I was given to understand. The yearly bonus is not substantial, which makes it more important to negotiate a starting salary you feel comfortable with.
