Habitat for Humanity
Ricoh Canada has been committed to the Habitat for Humanity organization for several years both on a local and national basis.
The Ricoh Vancouver branch has volunteered their time for two consecutive years to help build homes within the Burnaby area. Their efforts on a branch level, has transformed the lives of upto twelve families in providing new homes . Nationally, Ricoh Canada branches across Canada also participated in the National Penny Campaign which aimed to collect one million Canadian pennies (the equivalent of $100,000) to purchase building materials for Habitat for Humanity. Ricoh Canada branches across the country collected over 50,000 pennies resulting in a contribution of $500.
Tree Planting Ricoh Canada’s Mississauga and Calgary branches have partnernered with West Jet for many years in an annual tree planting event.
In Mississauga, the Ricoh team participates in the Mississauga’s ‘One Million Trees Program’ with a goal to plant a total of one million tress within the Mississauga area over a twenty year period. Ricoh Canada’s annual participation in this program will enable the city of Mississauga towards over exceeding this goal.
In Calgary, employees from the Ricoh Calgary branch also team up with their WestJet counterparts to plant trees at Southland Park on an annual basis. To date, their combined participation in planting more trees has resulted in a 60% increase in shrubs and trees within the park.
The Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike Event
For ten consecutive years, Ricoh Canada has participated in the big bike event annually to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke fund. In 201,3 the Ricoh Toronto and Mississauga offices collectively raised upto $8,000 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation with the Mississauga branch also winning the coveted ‘Spirit Award’ for their contribution in rebranding the big bike with Ricoh imagine.change decorations and singing their own team theme song.
The United Way – Woodbine Turf Relay Races
Alongside Ricoh Canada’s commitment to a variety of local charities and organizations, Ricoh Canada is also a national supporter of the United Way. Throughout the year a number of fundraising activities are organized at every Ricoh branch with the goal of assisting the United Way in improving the local communities in which Ricoh Canada has a presence.
The largest United Way event is the Woodbine Turf Relay Race. Upto 11 Ricoh teams from Toronto, Mississauga and Vaughan participate in the racing against once another along the Woodbine race course. The event also has a 5km run for those employees that want to run individually. This annual event is hugely popular amongst Ricoh Canada employees with new ideas of how to make the event more fun every year. In 2013, the Executive Management Team were challenged to race dressed in tutus provided their respective teams could raise a minimum of $500 each.
The success of the 2013 Woodbine Turf Relay Races resulted in Ricoh Canada contributing $5,000 to the final total of $73,369.
