I have been working at Room & Board full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Friendly, collegiate workplace. Everyday is different. A beautiful showroom it's like living in your dream home. Our location has a lot of flexibility; ability to duck out to medical appointments, school meetings etc. Generous vacation and public holiday allowance (21 days) paid sick/personal time . Benefits are good and are offered to all employees even part timers. I love working here and I'm passionate about what I do. Contribution to 401k ($1200 in 2014) as 2013 was profitable. This was a generous gesture however many would have appreciated cash in hand.

    Cons

Having our annual sale on Dec 26th. It goes against all the other work/life/balance opportunities. Not one employee can enjoy Christmas with family. It's a lateral organization so no room for advancement, although there are many opportunities to get involved in secondary roles. Leadership not adept at sharing available opportunities and encouraging personal and professional growth more. Salary is reasonable but could be better increases are small max 3%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please please change the date of the clearance event. Most employees would like this to change (do a survey) mandatory attendance is unfair. Clearance event should begin a few days later

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Room & Board.

    Interview Details

Interview with all three managers. Very easy, scripted and basic. No creativity involved basically they read generic questions from a management handbook. The managers have never done the job I was applying for so it was difficult to get a real feel for the duties.
