I have been working at Rutgers Preparatory School full-time (more than 10 years)

Employees are treated respectfully and feel valuable. Co-workers are helpful and honest. Workload can be heavy and varied; it's typical to wear a lot of hats here. However, the work spaces are good and those things which can't be measured (respect, value, quality, etc.) are great. Professional development and growth are encouraged. New ideas are welcomed.

School pays half benefits. Pension is good (TIAA-CREF).

Pay is average. In fact, there is no transparency (no salary scale). No extra pay for wearing more hats than usual unless it's coaching, the After School Program, or specific committees. Sometimes faculty (and administration) bend backwards too much to cater to parents and certain students.

No fiscal bonuses. Raise is minimal (2%; used to be 4% before recession). Health insurance is expensive (Cigna). School splits the costs on health benefits.

    Positive Outlook
