I have been working at STVHCS

    Pros

-Good Benefits Package (medical plans, generous annual leave)
    -Job Security
-Scheduled Wage Increases (good pay for long-time employees)
    -Relatively low stress environment.

    Cons

-The nursing schedule is terrible. Rotating shifts unless you work an off-tour (evening shift, night shift). "If you don't like your schedule LEAVE" attitude from management. Union is NO help!
-Unfair in promotions and treatment of employees. FAVORITISM.
    -Very little opportunity for advancement.
-Incompetent managers with a lack of employee respect.
-Lazy co-workers who don't care about quality patient care.
    -LVN's are glorified CNA's.
    -Lack of respect from CNA's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees who actually work on the floor and know what goes on. Consult employees when making decisions. Schedule meetings to discuss issues and concerns with employees.

The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at STVHCS in May 2008.

    Interview Details

Took 90 days to get hired. Two 1-1 interviews. Every department involved in the hiring process "lost" my paperwork. Keep copies of everything.
