My first month has been pretty good at Saba. I thought I would take some time to reflect:

Access to People

I am pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to find the right person and reach out to him/her.  I can just walk to the cubicle and ask questions. It means less time staring at Inbox waiting for a response.

Such ease of access also adds to the liveliness and environment. I felt part of Saba Community much quicker than I thought.

Access to Information

It is good to be at a place where I don’t have to work through many network drives to access basic documents. Thanks to Saba Central. We also have a very impressive set of tools to collaborate. I can attend a meeting from anywhere potentially. If I miss it, I have access to the recorded version.

On the whole, very few process bottlenecks here and as a result, relatively smooth days at work.

Everything Else

Lunch is a great perk to have. The office is in a beautiful location. Work environment is quite friendly. People work really hard. I am glad to be part of such smart, diverse and reliable set of people. The buzz word these days is Summit.

Below is a sample of some of our community efforts:

Saba is continuing our partnership with the American Red Cross to sponsor needed relief efforts.  The Red Cross is one of the main organizations providing immediate support for these critical survival needs in the aftermath of the typhoon.   At Saba, we want to help those in need and show our support of the families who have been affected by the typhoon.  We have the opportunity to help raise money toward necessities such as food, shelter and rebuilding efforts.  Saba has established a corporate match for our employees and customers.

    I have been working at Saba Software full-time (more than a year)


    I've had several jobs at Saba and my current job is one of the best I've had in my career. My contributions are impactful and they are recognized by management. Saba's engine in running strong and most departments are performing very well. Management is aligned behind the same goals and these goals are communicated clearly to the employees.

    Saba Cloud is a very comprehensive Talent Management solution and by positioning it as Intelligent Talent Management and having TIM, The Intelligent Mentor, as one of the key differentiators, Saba is the best solution in the market. This is becoming obvious in the sales cycle where Saba's been very competitive and winning a lot deals.

    The introduction of the new brand has been very successful and this is one of the reasons why we all feel very strong about the company and its future.

    The Saba culture can be best described as open, direct and collaborative. Innovation and creativity are strongly encouraged. Saba is a place where everybody rolls up their sleeves to get things done.

    Shawn is a no-nonsense and very approachable CEO. He's extremely focused on the customer and he has hired and promoted executives who share his vision. But don't try to BS him, he sees through that very quickly and it's the best way to see your projects come to a halt.

    Saba is a great place for people if you are looking for a job where you can have an impact and leave your mark.

    One of the challenges internally is the bureaucracy when dealing with finance and legal. It's a painful process to get POs approved and invoices paid, but this is due to the stringent financial controls that have been put in place.

    If you're not the right fit, it will be clear quickly. And that can be hard for some people to accept.

    I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Saba Software.

    Interview Details

    I interviewed for Sr. Product Manager in 2014. Applied online and received a call from the recruiter within a week. She forwarded the call to the hiring manager, who I enjoyed talking to. Heard nothing back, and I sent a followup email. I was invited for the onsite interview. Met the VP, 2 directors, one Product Manager and 1 UX designer. These were more of conversations than interviews, and I enjoyed talking to all of them.

    Never heard back from the team, despite multiple followup emails.
