I have been working at Saks Fifth Avenue full-time (more than 3 years)

You are on a set career path and must go through multiple positions until you reach buyer/planner role. It definitely makes you more well rounded and exposes you to many different areas of the company. If you have a great manager, your experience here will be amazing

Very corporate and set work schedule. You are expect to work from at least 9-6. Also be prepared to work late if a project landed on your desk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline projects, communicate, and provide employees with flexible hours. Everyone here works hard and feel most rewarded when they can leave early some days when work in complete.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a dayinterviewed at Saks Fifth Avenue.

    Interview Details

I drove to Austin from Houston and was interviewed in a Starbucks on a Saturday by the visual manager. I had an hour to do a full mannequin presentation which was critiqued by the store manager and the visual manager. I wowed them.

    Interview Questions
    • Visual positions used to be conducted through visual means: a portfolio, a Powerpoint presentation, a recommendation from another visual associate, etc. It was your work, not how well you answered the fairly typical questions, or dropped the right keywords.   View Answer
    Negotiation Details
How badly do you really want the position? The money usually followed after the performance review. In a coveted position like Visual Lead, the employer doesn't have to negotiate, and believe me, they all take advantage of that.
