I have been working at Samsung SDS full-time (less than a year)

In my group I get to work on very cutting edge technologies. We have some really good engineers here.
Health insurance is great, probably the best you'll find anywhere.
Diverse work areas / projects. It's a conglomerate, so SDS has access to a range of internal and external clients.
Stable relative to startups, or financial firms.
    Can get nice gadgets.

There has been a push to be more innovative, and flexible. Some parts of the firm will really feel like a 'big firm', but other parts will feel start-up like. The spectrum is wide.
I think the overall experience may depend on which group you work in. e.g. traditional vs. new.
Some offices are kind of drab looking.
401k matching not great. Small percentage of the IRS max.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'd consider renovating some of the offices and new branding strategies to align better with an innovative culture.
    Improve 401k matching.

    Neutral Outlook

Anonymous Employee in San Jose, CA
Anonymous Employee in San Jose, CA
    Application Details

I applied through other source – interviewed at Samsung SDS in February 2015.

    Interview Details

I was contacted by a recruiter via email and LinkedIn. The recruiter is part of a contracting company connected to India. After I spoke with the recruiter, the recruiter asked for my resume and time to go through some questions. Then said that the recruiter will present it to the manager who is in the recruiting dept - I was told the feedback will be quick- within minutes I got a denial email with a weak reason.

What is going on is that they are collecting data so that they can make a case to bring in candidates from India and make money for themselves.

    Interview Questions
    • - Which year I graduated (when there is 10years work exp in my resume).
      - Asked what is my current salary
      - If I am happy at my current job
      Answer Question
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview
