    Pros

    It would be difficult to find a more stable job. There is a boatload of paid time off, plus all of the furlough days (unpaid mandatory days off). You are "not allowed" to take work home. It is generally pretty casual and relaxed.

    Cons

    Mandatory furlough days syphon six percent off the top of our salaries each year. Generally speaking, the county's budget is underfunded. Search elsewhere for big raises, bonuses, and perks. People plan to retire from here (lots of longtimers), so there is not a whole lot of fresh life, perspective, and experience making its way into the mix.
