A poorly managed and inefficient Thomson Reuters business, but the perks are reasonably good.

    Pros

There is little micro managing of employees due in part to the absence of management skills in general - most managers know less than you do. Benefits are good; balance of family / work is good.

    Cons

Incompetent employees promoted to management and directorship cause daily frustration to those who are more experienced. The upper management cliques are unprofessional and demotivating; poor business decisions by them abound and cause everyone else to suffer. Business aptitude and acumen is generall very poor among levels of management.

    Advice to Management

Need to purge the entire management team that was assembled through cliques and buddies so the business can grow and thrive without constraint.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at ScholarOne a Thomson Reuters business (Charlottesville, VA) in April 2014.

    Interview

I was refereed by a friend and former employee. I then sent a resume to the hiring manager and applied for the job online. I later received a phone call from a Thomson Reuters requiter and had a preliminary interview. I was then put in touch with the hiring manager and had a phone interview with her. After that I had two 30min face-to-face interviews with two panels of 4 and 2 people respectively. Finally the hiring manager and I spoke for 10min after the panel for a couple of final questions.
