The Schwan Food Company is a multibillion-dollar private company with approximately 14,000 subsidiary employees worldwide. Based out of Marshall, Minnesota, the company sells fine frozen foods on its traditional delivery trucks, in grocery-store freezers and in the food-service industry.
On Tuesday, March 18, 1952, a 23-year-old Marvin Schwan packed his beat-up 1946 Dodge panel van with 14 gallons of his family's signature ice cream and delivered it to rural families in western Minnesota. At the end of that historic trip, all 14 gallons were sold and the Schwan home-delivery business was born.

Schwan is an official partner of Feeding America and is fully committed to the cause of hunger relief. Feeding America is a well-known, well-respected national nonprofit organization that is working to end hunger in our country. Through their network of food banks and food shelves, including Second Harvest Heartland, the organization has affiliates in every community in which our company has operations. This partnership provides greater focus for our charitable works and fosters consistency across our company, maximizing our efforts to end hunger. Our business units are also involved in local food drives, and our employees are encouraged to volunteer with organizations that support hunger relief.
At Schwan, we have taken an active role in shaping our future leaders. For more than 12 years, we have had an outstanding relationship with Enactus(formerly Students in Free Enterprise), a group that teaches the importance of free enterprise and business leadership to thousands throughout the world. Schwan's Corporate Giving Foundation places great value on youth education and leadership development. It established the Schwan Scholarship Program. The Schwan Scholarship Program provides $1,000 scholarships each year for up to 100 children of certain full-time employees of subsidiaries of The Schwan Food Company.
The United Way
Employees have a long legacy of working with local United Way chapters. With matching grants from Schwan's Corporate Giving Foundation, a private charitable organization, employees raised more than $190,000 in 2013 for United Way chapters in Marshall, Minnesota; Salina,Kansas; and Houston, Texas. Employees have helped raise approximately $3.4 million for United Way chapters since 1998.
At the company's corporate offices in Minnesota, a jeans day program is promoted that invites employees to donate $1 for the privilege of wearing casual attire on Fridays. Schwan's Corporate Giving Foundation matches these donations to double the impact. The program raised more than $48,000 in 2013. Since its inception in 1999, the jeans day program has raised more than $900,000 for local charities. Schwan's Corporate Giving Foundation provided the lead gift to an effort to build the Avera Cancer Institute Marshall. It is expected to open in late 2014 and will serve southwestern Minnesota.

Supply Chain Development Programs
Schwan's Global Supply Chain is the manufacturing and logistics arm of The Schwan Food Company. The team is central to the company's overall success and provides strategic leadership across the company's many business units. The team plays a significant role in fuelling revenue growth and profitability through operational excellence, quality, process-improvement and innovation. Schwan's Global Supply Chain includes manufacturing and logistics, engineering, continuous improvement, strategic sourcing, and food safety and quality functions. As a Route Sales Representative, you'll be in control of running a $300,000+ route based food business. Our trucks are stocked with more than 350 delicious, home-style foods that require limited prep and help our customers make great family meals any night of the week. As a Route Sales professional you will go through a custom designed training program designed to set you up for success so that you can operate safely and consistently exceed our customers' expectations and your Sales goals. - Employees are paid a base pay, plus tiered commissions (guaranteed base pay during training).

We've designed our trucks so that a regular driving license is all that is required. This is a Department of Transportation governed position, so candidates do need to have a good driving record and be 21 years of age.

Salary + commission tied to your personal effort. Option to work 4 or 5 days after you have routes. To a degree the product sells itself, so if you provide friendly and steady service and use simple suggestive selling techniques, you should do quite well. Great entry level sales opportunity.Cons

Applied Online, called in 2 days to setup interview. Interview was generally questions about sales experience and how to handle difficult situations. Was told if considered would do a day long ride along on my own expense to determine if I would like the job. After the ride along, I was asked to if I wanted the job, and did a drug screen and DOT physical. After that HIRERIGHT started my background check.Interview Questions
