I have been working at Securitas full-time (more than 3 years)RecommendsNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEORecommendsNeutral OutlookDisapproves of CEO
Come to work and do what is expected of you and you will do fine. If you are looking for a job that doesn't expect anything from you this is not the place to be. Show up on time and ready for work, I've never had a problem for the most part with management or staff.
This area tends to promote from (its who you know not what you know". The company tends to take to long to post open jobs. management does not share much company history or the company structure with officers. I was at Securitas 6 months before I knew the chain of command & who are the bosses. I've worked here a few years & still don't know the company structure, operating areas or the leadership team. We don't even get the company news letter. We have asked for it. As a officer we have SEIU only thing I can say at best its a poor union. Our area doesn't a union rep and the union or company doesn't care for at least 3 years.
Advice to Management
Give the officers more training in a specific job site. Supervisors & Managers are given little training to their specific job function. It a learn by doing from what I have seen. I know supervisors that have been promoted placed in a assignment with little training 8 hours or less in specific supervisor duties and how to deal with employees. Upper (Branch) management needs to pay attention to the people they supervise (account Managers), account managers are sometimes out of line. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a HR movie on what not to do!!!!

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week – interviewed at Securitas (Edison, NJ) in April 2015.
Applied on a Wednesday and got called the very next Wednesday, given I have a friend in the company who put a good word in for me. Arrived early, was brought in and left alone to go over application and sign some papers. Interviewer came in and asked very few questions (easy questions) about past work experience and how I handled stressful situations. (Also inquired about any recent gaps in employment) After the few questions a ton more paperwork to fill, then drug test (best to study for that one), then brought to speak with a manager about possible work sites. Overall very easy and relaxed process, I was much less anxious than I antcipated, considering I needed this job. Tips: be honest, have flexibility with hours, show you can speak English well, and show you are genuinely interested, you'll get the job.

Securitas profits from the lack of caritas (Latin for truth, unity, and charity) in human nature. Securitas is one of the world's top security services firms, providing guards to banks, retailers, large and small businesses, and residential customers in 45 countries, mainly in North America and Europe, but also in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. It also offers electronic systems and security software. Its purchase of US security firms Pinkerton's and Burns International Services gave Securitas a dominant position in the US security guard services market. Securitas...
