    Interview Details

There was a hiring surge, so I don't know if my experience was typical. Group interview...very informal. "Tell us something about yourself" kind of deal. Later we were individually scheduled to come back in on the shift we would prefer to be assigned to (based on openings) to spend 20 minutes working on the floor with someone to see if we would want to do it for a living. This seemed like a dumb step since when you're unemployed you'll try anything...even if you know it likely won't work out. Then again, this was for the supervisor to see if he/she felt you had the potential to handle the job long-term and to see if you were going to freak out over the work environment. If the supervisor clears you, they send you for drug and nicotine screening once they give you your hire packet and start date.

    Interview Questions
    • HR person told all of us that she didn't think ANY of us would last. I don't know if she was just being bluntly honest (high turnover is the norm) or trying to scare us off to see if we'd bolt for the door.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
No negotiation. Your choice is limited to your pick of what shift you want of those they need to fill positions.

Shearer's Foods' potato chips are Shearer perfection. Using Grandma Shearer's "hand-cooked" kettle recipe, the snacks company produces more than 30 million pounds of potato chips each year. Shearer's also makes and markets tortilla chips, cheese curls, corn puffs, pretzels, and pork rinds, as well as dips and salsa. The food maker's products are sold around the country and in the Shearer's Marketplace Factory Outlet store across the street from its headquarters in Brewster, Ohio.
