Global energy demand is rising and so are consumer expectations – more people want energy from cleaner sources. At Shell we work with others to unlock new energy sources and make the most of what we have. We do this in responsible and innovative ways. In building a better energy future we all have a part to play. Shell is doing its part.
Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemicals companies employing 90,000 people in more than 80 countries. Our aim is to help meet the energy needs of society in ways that are economically, environmentally and socially responsible. In the United States, Shell is a major oil and gas producer in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, a recognized innovator in oil and gas exploration and production technology and one of America’s leading oil and gas producers, fuel and natural gas marketers and petrochemical manufacturers. We operate in 50 states and employ more than 22,000 people delivering energy in technically innovative ways.
Globally, our exploration and production activities consist of two organizations: Upstream Americas covering North and South America; and Upstream International, covering the rest of the world. We search for and recover oil and natural gas, and extract heavy oil from oil sands for conversion into synthetic crude. We liquefy natural gas by cooling and transport it to customers around the world. Our gas to liquids (GTL) process turns natural gas into liquid fuels and other products. We often work in joint ventures, including those with national oil companies. We are also developers of wind power to generate electricity.
Our Downstream businesses make, move and sell a range of oil products and chemicals for domestic, industrial and transport use. With around 43,000 service stations, Shell has the world’s largest single-branded fuel retail network. Our chemicals are the raw materials for plastics, coatings and detergents used in the manufacture of textiles, medical supplies and computers. The business also includes our activities in biofuels, and it coordinates CO2 management activities across the company.
Our Projects & Technology business manages the delivery of Shell’s major projects and drives its research and technology development program. Projects & Technology provides technical services and technology capability to the Upstream and Downstream organizations. It oversees safety and environmental performance and manages contracting and procurement across Shell.
The world is shifting towards a new, low-carbon energy future. But it will take several decades to get there. Shell is helping to meet rising energy demand today, while taking steps to help build the energy system of tomorrow: producing more cleaner-burning natural gas; working to deliver advanced fuels and lubricants and lower-carbon biofuels; and building a capability in carbon capture and storage.
We are proud to employ a diverse mix of men and women of different nationalities and ethnic groups, orientations, backgrounds, abilities and cultures. We value these differences and encourage the most talented individuals to apply for a career with Shell. Whatever your role at Shell, as part of a diverse and global network comprised of some of the finest minds in the business, you could be helping to power people’s lives around the world, now and into the future. Come and discover how you can propel your career and help solve some of the world’s biggest energy challenges.
