Shop Direct has a very clear reason for being - to make good things easily accessible to more people. With £1.7 bn in annual sales, we're proud to be the UK and Ireland's leading multi-brand digital retailer, delivering 48 million products every year to millions of customers. 84% of our sales are online and our websites receive a whopping 950,000 visits every day.
We've been around for over 80 years and each of our digital department stores is now a household name in its own right – from our newer brands, Very.co.uk, isme.com and Woolworths.co.uk right through to our well-loved heritage brands, Littlewoods.com and KandCo.com.
We're good at what we do but we know we could be better. Our focus is to become a truly world class digital retailer offering our millions of customers the best and most personalised shopping experience they can find, no matter how they choose to shop with us. To achieve that aim we need the very best talent - people who can think big and are as excited about shaping the future of digital retail as we are..
Everything we do at Shop Direct is focused on making good things easily accessible to more people. And, whatever role you play here, that notion will always be at the heart of everything you do too. We have high expectations and standards. And, our customers’ needs come front, left and centre. It’s as simple as that. So, look after them and we’ll definitely look after you!
This approach to work makes for a great working environment because we all have the same shared purpose and sense of direction. And, despite being the UK’s leading multi-brand digital retailer, with sales of over £1.7bn, we never let our size, scale or success go to our heads. You could say we take what we do seriously – but we never take ourselves too seriously! So, you won’t find massive egos here, just masses of potential.
You see we’re big, but not too big. We offer careers with immense scope and opportunity. But, we also put value on the small stuff. Things like remembering your birthday, knowing your name and of course, saying ‘thanks’ for a job well done! So, join us on our journey towards digital domination and be part of the future of retail.
The culture of Shop Direct is something you really need to experience to believe; it’s tricky to contain such energy and spirit in a couple of paragraphs of text. But, we’ll give it our best shot!
Shop Direct is a transforming business with ambitions to become a world class digital retailer. If you don’t know this before you walk through our Head Office doors, you’ll feel it and see it the minute you do. There’s a real buzz about the place. People walk with a purpose and talk at pace. There’s an undercurrent of excitement. Because everyone who works here, knows that they’re a part of an organisation that’s really special. And that feels good!
After all, where else are you likely to be invited to fabulous fashion shows; a fun fair in the car park; summer BBQs or Nintendo Wii competitions in the office? Could you bump into Fearne Cotton or Mark Wright in the corridor or have your hair cut and styled by Nicky Clarke?
You see we work hard at Shop Direct but we have a lot of fun doing it. Quite simply, we love what we do and it shows.

The business has a really clear sense of itself and is really clear on the direction its headed. Its culture is open and inclusive and you get a really strong sense of being part of a big team. Lots of events happen at the head office and its a fantastic environment to work in.
Constant change isn't always easy and there are challenges in trying to keep pace. The business is a little too focused on meetings which makes it tough to find the time to actually do your job.
Advice to Management
Be more proactive in developing peoples careers - there's lots of talent in the business that could be better utilised.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Shop Direct (Speke, England (UK)) in March 2012.
Detailed and challenging interview. The interviewer had clearly done their research and came very prepared with where they wanted to take the interview. Questions were probing and took me out of my comfort zone on a couple of occasions. There was a good balance to the interview as well - it gave me the chance to really understand what I needed to know about the role, the team, the business etc.
