    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeksinterviewed at Sierra Leone Diamond in April 2011.

    Interview Details

Hiring/Interview process revolved almost entirely around "capability to work in this environment" and very little emphasis on technical ability. There were some technical questions, but very few and far between. Focus very much on the ability to "roll your sleeves up and get stuck in" though that has evolved significantly now.

    Interview Questions
    • Most difficult question was: "you've been sent to a site with a non-working outdoor wireless access point that you don't know the username, password or IP address of. How do you intend to attempt to get into it to manage/troubleshoot it?"   View Answer

African Minerals owns several exploration properties in Sierra Leone. though it was founded with diamond production firmly as its focus, the company explores for other precious and base metals on its properties, though none of its properties is currently in production. Its two iron ore projects are furthest along the development track. With the country emerging from years of civil unrest, African Minerals hopes to tap its undeveloped mineral resources. Chairman Frank Timis owns a 20% stake in the company. In 2007 it changed its name from Sierra Leone Diamond Company.
