Wonderful learning experience for a recent or soon-to-be grad looking to get a hands-on perspective of agency life.

I have been working at Slack and Company as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Everyone from junior employees to upper management are very friendly and willing to help a newcomer. Office culture is laid-back but employees work very hard and love what they do. Internship is paid and includes many of the same benefits full-time employees receive including breakfast on Fridays, open use to the building's gym and free snacks. Interns are able to work on meaningful projects for real clients and are welcomed to participate in staff discussions and meetings. Plus, the location is wonderfully convenient right on Michigan Ave, and the view isn't too bad either!

    Cons

Fast-paced work environment may seem overwhelming at first but those who pay attention and ask questions will do just fine. Time management is crucial and the office runs on pre-scheduled meetings. Everyone has an office or cubicle so interaction may not be as open as other places, but there are plenty of opportunities for mingling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management is great. They are very candid with their employees and seem to really care about improving company culture and environment.

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Slack and Company in September 2014.

    Interview Details

Discovered the opening via Twitter which directed me to the website. Per the website's request, I sent an email and resume to the HR manager. Was contacted for an interview about a month later. First round was a quick phone chat and then I followed-up to come in for an in-person interview which was scheduled for about a week later. During my interview at the office I met with the HR manager and two other account supervisors. One of them had a meeting go longer than expected so a very friendly account manager kept me company and told me a bit more about "Slack" from a former intern's point of view. Everyone made me feel very comfortable and there were no questions outside of typical "tell me about yourself and your experiences" requests. I then followed up another week after my interview but was redirected as the hiring manager was out of the office. My circumstances were urgent because I had received an offer elsewhere but very much enjoyed my Slack and Company experience more. The help I received from a few employees was absolutely wonderful and I was able to receive an offer shortly thereafter.
