We have more than 15 people from offices all over the country at the Big Retail Show in NYC this week. Our consultants have many opportunities to attend major conferences in their field(s) of interest to connect with clients and colleagues and to both learn and speak.
Slalom Consulting brings business and technology expertise together to help companies drive enterprise performance, accelerate innovation, enhance the customer experience, and increase employee productivity.
We are the consulting firm with a national network of local offices. Slalom consultants are locally-based, handpicked experts that form a national community delivering powerful technology and business innovations.
How does it work?
Every Slalom consultant can reach out to other Slalom experts who are ready to help–from across the hall to other Slalom offices, and through national specialized teams. Through this model, we share knowledge, ideas, and tools to solve client challenges and help develop our future products and services.
How did this start?
We invented it. While there are many local national consulting firms, we pioneered the national network of local offices model.
Our clients like us. We work with interesting and diverse clients, from global leaders to emerging companies, who are doing amazing things. We help them innovate and take advantage of new opportunities. We are flexible, easy to work with, and focused on solving problems—not selling.
Slalom believes everyone can win. Fulfilled employees thrive personally and professionally. Satisfied clients and partners spread the word. The company grows and invests in people, technology, and services.
People love working here
Founded in 2001, Slalom has rapidly grown to more than 1,300 consultants across 11 North American offices. Slalom is a great place to grow and learn personally and professionally, celebrating hard work and success together through events for the whole company and our families. We are consistently rated by national publications as one of the best consulting firms to work for.
Slalom consultants choose their own career paths. From training and mentorship to career development tools and sabbaticals, we give our people choices that enable them to take on new challenges with the autonomy to make the right choices for their clients.
Our talent works alongside some of the best and brightest in the industry, on the most strategic initiatives for Fortune 1000 companies. Our local model allows consultants to build long-term relationships with world-class companies in their own communities, eliminating unwanted travel and providing the possibility to innovate, seize opportunities, and build their expertise in exciting new practice areas. As a private company, we answer to only two constituencies: our clients, and ourselves.
If this sounds like a place where you would thrive, we would love to hear from you – email@example.com.
WORKING FOR A BETTER WORLD
Slalom has repeatedly earned recognition not only for consulting excellence, but also for our community involvement. We believe that life is more fulfilling when you give back.
We live and work in the same communities as our clients, fostering a local connection. We also strengthen our communities through volunteering, service, and by supporting charities and people who are committed to making a positive impact.
Every year Slalom sponsors–and our consultants participate, help organize, and even create–charity events and fundraising activities through each one of our office locations. As an organization, and as individuals, Slalom is committed to the communities where we work and live, and making a positive impact on the world.

I have been working at Slalom Consulting full-time (less than a year)Pros
Great energy, growing business, by far the best people.
Most of all I can honestly say that this is the first consulting company where I feel "in control" of my destiny without being asked to sell out. I feel that leadership wants consultants to carve their own path, make their own game.Cons
So far so good. I hear a few minor complaints from other consultants about the usual... "client is difficult to deal with", "why didn't I get a promotion", etc. My experience so far has been nothing but positive. I feel like the promotion process is very generous and clear.Advice to ManagementAdvice
What Slalom has is special. I like the freedom to blaze my own trail and work "my way". Please do not make the promotion process some sort of formalized process that pits consultants against one another like other big 4 consulting companies. Collaboration is currency. Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Application Details
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months – interviewed at Slalom Consulting.Interview Details
Initial communication was very professional, upbeat, and positive. This included meetings with National Recruiting, HR, and a Managing Director in the local office (all of whom thought I'd be a great fit for the company). The final interview was with a Practice Area Lead that had just started with the company. I found him to be very condescending and many times talking over me not allowing me to finish speaking (despite him asking me a question). His demeanor and personality were the exact opposite of my first three meetings. It's unfortunate because up until that point, I was very excited about working for the company only to find that "things weren't quite what they seemed".Interview Questions

- There wasn't really a difficult question in the interview. In the last meeting in which I was interviewing, the person I was meeting with already had his mind made up that the position wasn't for me, even though 1) this position was as a peer to him and 2) he couldn't not articulate what the requirements were for the position.
