About Sleep Train
Founded in 1985 by Dale Carlsen, Sleep Train is the West Coast’s number one mattress retailer and number four nationwide.
Shortly after graduating from California State University Sacramento, Carlsen opened the first Sleep Train store on Folsom Blvd. in Sacramento, California. His philosophy was simple: Treat the customer right and you will earn a customer for life. Eight months later, a second location was opened in Citrus Heights, California. Today, there are over 100 California Sleep Train locations that span from San Diego to the Oregon border.
Sleep Train Mattress Centers is known for their dedication to the community with the Sleep Train Foster Kids program, as well as their commitment to providing superior service, top brand name selection and a low price guarantee.

Dale Carlsen - Founder and CEO of Sleep Train
Dale Carlsen, a Sacramento native, founded Sleep Train in 1985, just one year after graduating from Sacramento State University.
He has since grown Sleep Train, Inc. from one store and a few employees to a multi-branded company with more than 300 stores and nearly 1,500 employees.
Today, Sleep Train is the West Coast’s number one mattress retailer and number four nationwide.
