I have been working at Smiths Group full-time for more than 8 yearsPros
Good culture - strong focus on ethical behaviour.
Work/life balance is good.
Emphasis on development and training of staff, even though it's sometimes difficult to see.Cons
Benefits - health and 401k/retirement/pension - have gone downhill in recent years
Sometimes difficult to advance - there is some hiring from within, but the more senior positions tend to be from outside.
Bonuses only seem to be available to senior management, and base pay increases of anything more than 1-2% are rare.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Improve the review system. A 1-5 system doesn't make sense if 95% of people get a 3. Implement bonuses and/or raises at all levels tied to a combination of personal objectives and business performance.RecommendsNeutral OutlookApproves of CEO

I sent him an e-mail after indicating I would have no further interest.Interview Questions
