For Those Interviewing at our Headquarters
|1.||Our recruiting team will review your resume very carefully and if your qualifications meet the needs of the position you applied to, we will pass it along to a hiring manager for consideration. Due to the number of applications we receive each day, we unfortunately are not able to reach out to every candidate directly, although you will receive an automated email confirming receipt of your resume. |
|2.||If a hiring manager expresses interest in you from your resume, we will typically ask you to participate in a phone screening with Human Resources, during which time you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the position and tell us about your background and interest in the role. If there is mutual interest based on our initial conversation, we will ask you to participate in another interview, either by phone or at our offices. |
|3.||During your first in-person meeting, you will likely meet with 2-5 SolarCity employees for about 30 to 45 minutes each. And we typically conduct 1-3 rounds of interviews for an open position. |
|4.||Should you be an ideal match, we will speak to your professional references and conduct a background check before extending an offer. Drug tests will be conducted for positions that require driving and are safety sensitive. |
For Those Interviewing at one of our Field Offices
|1.||The Hiring Manager (who is typically the Regional Operations Manager for the designated regional office) will review your resume. If a hiring manager expresses interest in you from your resume, he or she will call you for a phone interview and/or to schedule an in-person interview. |
|2.||At your in-person interview, the Hiring Manager will discuss with you the position and ask about your job-relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities, and you will be asked to complete an employment application and a number of other related documents. |
|3.||Should you be an ideal match, we will speak to your professional references and conduct a background check before extending an offer. A pre-employment drug test will be conducted for all field positions. |
While initial research of SolarCity likely led you to apply, please come to your interview(s) prepared to speak about how your background and experience align with SolarCity's open position and how you can contribute to our success.
Candidates for certain positions will be asked to take a brief quiz to assess job knowledge and skills or they may be asked to complete an assignment related to the position.

Solar City has partnered with the Military in our Solar Strong project in which it plans to provide solar power to up to 120,000 privatized military housing units, and create up to 300 megawatts of solar generation capacity. During the interview process I was never sold on anything positive about company. I was informed that they don't have merit raises. The only time you make more money is if you get promoted. They don't seem to hardly ever hire for senior positions. The pay is very very low. They have stock options but the company is already public and the stock is not performing very well at all.
