I have been working at Sony DADC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is about average for the area. No jobs are overly difficult. Overall clean and climate controlled.

    Cons

Too much management and micromanaging. Decision makers are out of touch with what it takes to sustain day-to-day operations. They can/will change your shift, hours, overtime with little to no notice. Layoffs with less than 24 hours notice. No room for advancement, what you hire in to do is what you will always do. Overall feel and vibe of the place is dismal at best.

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees and spend some time in the production areas. Promote from within to reward the hard workers. You are running the good ones out the door. Do not hire seasonal employees less than a week after laying off hard working full time employees, this sends the wrong message to everyone.

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Sony DADC (Los Angeles, CA).

    Interview

Fair, in-depth, direct! I started out speaking to the EVP of Sales & Marketing and then was interviewed by VP of Sales as well. I never felt intimidated by either of them and the questions pertained directly to the job I was interviewing for. My second interview was a lunch with the Controller and a Sr. Customer Service Manager, both of whom I ended up working close with.

Having focused on optical disc media since its inception, Sony DADC (Digital Audio Disc Corp.) didn't really feel the negative effects of the waning VHS and cassette tape industry. A subsidiary of Sony Corp., Sony DADC manufactures DVDs, audio CDs, Blu-Ray discs, and PlayStation UMDs (Universal Media Discs) that contain replicated content (i.e music, software); it also offers packaging and supply chain services. In addition, the company develops technologies intended to prevent illegal disk copying and offers a variety of digital services, including digital content ... More
