I have been working at Sony Network Entertainment International full-time (more than 3 years)

    1) fun (there are parties and get-togethers every other week, game and product launches, appropriately enthusiastic and genial co-workers)
    2) educational (you learn a lot about corporate culture and game/Silicon Valley industry standards)
    3) challenging (a lot of deadlines, project management and multi-tasking skills are a requirement, the ability to master various software and communication skills with various departments are a must)
    4) enough wriggle room to learn on the fly
    5) taking classes for learning new skills is encouraged and is paid for by company if the entire course is completed
    6) most of the people in the company are genuinely good and talented
    7) in-house gym, cafeteria, and arcade

    1) working with so many departments, partners, and outside clients with their own agendas and time schedules can be a bit taxing
    2) tools and CMSes could stand to be more efficient
    3) pay, especially at starting level, is on the low end of average for Silicon Valley
    4) opportunities for advancement are either too few and far in between or are never made clear

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to be more communication between the many, many departments and better tools at our disposal. Some departments are inexplicably given priority over things that should be left to the expertise of another department. A lot of employees really support and believe in the company but need more opportunities for promotion and raises.
