I have been working at Sotera Defense Solutions full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I've worked at Sotera for almost 10 years, dating back to its predecessor companies The Analysis Corporation (TAC) and GTEC. It has been a wonderful experience. I've had three terrific bosses who took the time to listen to me, challenge me, and help me develop professionally. I trust them; they've kept every promise they ever made to me. I have great co-workers and some of them are practically family by this point. I've been happy with my career advancement and compensation. In my opinion, you get out of this company what you put in.

    Cons

The cons here are the same as the cons anywhere else in this market -- rates to the customer have gone down, so salaries aren't what they used to be, and the ability to float someone on the bench in between contracts is extremely limited. The company has had to cut back on some nice-to-haves, like a big holiday party, to keep overhead down and stay cost-competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the time to see people on contract face-to-face as much as you can. Talk about what you're doing in terms they can relate to; corporate financial goals don't mean much to them, but support to important missions and opportunities for career development (more/different responsibilities) do.
